A clearer view of
visit analytics.
Optional analytics help the site owner understand which pages people use. You choose whether to allow this detailed recording, and you can change your choice at any time.
Optional, from the start.
Basic anonymous page totals count eligible public page views without identifying a visitor. Detailed visit analytics begin only after you choose to allow them. Declining does not prevent you from browsing the website or using its normal features.
Your choice is stored in this browser so you do not have to answer on every page. Browser privacy signals may prevent recording even when analytics were previously allowed.
What a recorded visit contains.
When you allow analytics, the owner’s private dashboard may show:
- The page and visit time: which public page you opened and when it was viewed, with browser estimates of visible time and scroll depth.
- Your full IP address: the network address used for the visit. A shared network or VPN can represent several people.
- Browser and device information: limited classifications of your browser and operating system, their versions when available, device type and a possible device brand or model. Browser language, time zone, screen and viewport sizes, display pixel ratio and reported connection type may also be recorded.
- The referring website: the domain of the site that linked you here, when the browser provides it.
- Approximate location: a country or city estimate when a local lookup is available.
- An account name, if you separately allow it: a signed-in account is associated with a visit only when you explicitly choose account linking. Allowing analytics alone does not enable this.
- Visit identifiers: browser and session identifiers used to count repeat visits.
These details are shown to the site owner, rather than published on the website. They describe website activity and do not establish a person’s physical location or identity.
Location is an estimate.
Location lookup uses data available on the server. Your IP address is not sent to an external geolocation service for this analytics feature. Network-provider or autonomous-system information may also appear when local data provides it. When local data is unavailable, a place may appear as unknown.
IP location data is provided by DB-IP and looked up locally. A location estimate can describe an internet provider, mobile network, organization or VPN endpoint. It is not a GPS location and can be incorrect.
A limited record, kept here.
The analytics feature is hosted with this website. Detailed visit records are shown for 30 days. Daily cleanup then deletes older records from the active analytics store, which can take up to one further day.
Withdrawing your choice stops further optional recording and removes the detailed records associated with this browser’s analytics identifier on this website from the active store.
The owner can download a private CSV copy. Downloaded copies are outside the automatic cleanup and must be managed separately by the owner.
Change your choice at any time.
Use the analytics controls on this page or the website’s analytics settings link to allow or decline recording. The preference applies to this browser; a different browser or device can have a different choice.
Essential sign-in and request handling are separate from optional audience analytics. This page describes the audience analytics feature.
